The Law Enforcement Division covers an area of 6,900 square miles. Emphasis is placed on criminal invesigations and rural patrol in the 108 unorganized townships located in Aroostook. Five full time Patrol Deputies, one Sergeant and one detective cover the 2,800 miles of public highways as well as the 8,000 miles of private roads. These Deputies respond to an average of 2,500 criminal complaints and handle over 1,600 traffic incidents including accidents. Service of court orders and warrants are also a priority. There are three four wheel drive Jeeps in the fleet.

All dispatchers are Certified Terminal Operators. Along with handling an average of 275 calls daily they also greet visitors, dispatch twelve Fire Departments, the Sheriff's Patrol and Transportation Units, and are responsible for over 2,000 warrants that are kept on file at the Sheriff's Dispatch Center.
